Dome Cameras
The dome camera is obviously named for its dome shape. Everyone has seen these security cameras in businesses and stores. Because of its shape, it's difficult to tell exactly where the camera is aiming unless you see it up close. Dome cameras are generally used inside buildings, although the armor domes can be used outside as well (more about the armor dome below). You can mount them on the ceiling or on a wall. They are available in High definition (2 megapixel) and I.P. (up to 8 megapixel) although the 3 megapixel are the largest seller in the I.P. family because of the quality and price meeting at very economical point where you are not compromising quality for cost.
The difference between dome and bullet cameras are mostly aesthetics or the way it looks. Most cameras are made to have the option bearing both styles while keeping for the most part identical core parts and functionality. Although we would recommend for farther distances at night going with the bullet camera solely because of its double Exir Infrareds built into some models thus causing the night vision to be extended an additional 40 to 50 feet.

This is a vandal proof style dome camera meaning it has been built with a protective shield around the camera to protect from changing angles of the camera and destroying the camera's lens. While nothing is indestructible this particular style will make it much harder to tamper with.
This camera can be mounted on the ceiling, wall or mounting bracket.

This camera in the armor dome family has the same mobility , security and locking ring feature as the traditional armor dome cameras. The difference with this dome camera is that it has the enhanced night vision with the better digital noise reducing Matrix or "Exir" I.R.'S which would provide a cleaner longer night vision shot. Ideal for extremely dark areas and areas that require the camera to see a long distance at night (longer night vision only available with 1080P) The reason for better night vision on the 1080P models is because they come with "WDR" or wide dynamic range which is a feature built in to enhance the camera's ability to see at night and adjust accordingly as detailed below

Unlike the other cameras listed above this camera has the ability to set a desired focus range between 2.8mm and 12mm at the time of the install and afterwards as well. We can adjust the camera to a 2.8mm shot which would be a wider shot (around 110 degrees) which would make objects seem further while grabbing a wider area. Further adjustments to a higher mm number would result in bringing objects closer while narrowing the field of vision (a more closer narrow shot)

In surveillance, WDR is intended to provide clear images even under backlighting, where the intensity of illumination varies a lot—namely when there are very bright and very dark areas simultaneously in the camera's field of view. WDR allows an imaging system to correct for the intense back light surrounding a subject and thus enhances the ability to distinguish features and shapes on the subject. WDR cameras are usually recommended for situations where light enters a premise from various angles such as a multi-window room. A camera placed on the inside of the room will be able to see through the intense sunlight or artificial light coming in. If an indoor security camera is pointed towards a window or an entrance door, you will see the background washed out during daytime. This is a common occurrence in restaurants and stores with large glass windows.
